News this week: Dan and I were both in major publications. Mine will just be a quick blurb today, and Dan’s article will be featured in a few days after I get a high resolution copy to go with the video.
I would like to thank Michelle Crouch from Reader’s Digest for contacting me after reading my two-part series in DailyStrength.org titled “Confessions of a Maid Service Owner” that inspired the article in Reader’s Digest. I would also like to give special recognition to Theresa Peterson and Dee Strickland for coming in as additional contributors to the article. I knew I could count on them to represent!
This is actually the second time I was in Reader’s Digest. Both times they approached me for the expertise I had shared with the public already. To all the bloggers who think no one ever listens to what you have to say: I promise, they do!
The first article was due to my very public experiences in dealing with bad credit after my husband was injured in Iraq. As a result, I had contributed to the article “Your Credit Score: The Magic Number Explained” in October 2009. I wished they had quoted me with more material that I shared, but overall I was pleased with the final article. The month after the credit score article was published, the loan officer at the bank we were financing our home through contacted me and said, “My boss, the bank president, just put this article on my desk. It has your name on it. Is this YOU?”
It was weird to have that happen like it did. But, we got the house. Not only that, the bank president asked to meet us to shake our hands in person. The article was written when we had no hope whatsoever of buying a home. Just a few months later we were moving to Colorado to live in our very first home.
Keep writing. It matters.
