As part of my recent mission to take time off (aka, my ‘tactical pause‘) the hubs and I went to Houston, Texas last week for a fundraiser gala for wounded veterans. The Impact a Hero gala was really awesome, and I am once again reminded why their program is on my top 10 list of recommended veteran nonprofits.
Dan was asked at the last minute to step in for the honor guard. Naturally he was honored to represent the US Army at this event, and if I may say so myself, he looked especially handsome in his dress blues. My thanks to the beautiful and talented Tamara Scharck for taking this photo of Dan and I the night of the Gala.
Speaking of Scharcks, she was also responsible for capturing this photo of us last year when we were in Houston for the HelpingaHero.org Gala. (which is another nonprofit on my top 10 list).
These are two programs are doing great things for veterans, and we are honored to be a part of their fundraising events. This was our first year for attending each of the events, and we hope to help continue their mission. If you ever want to donate to a great cause that truly helps veterans, you should check them out!
So, what does this have to do with blind golfers and a squirrel with big nuts, you ask?
Leave it to me to make something classy into something naughty. I tend to morph the most benign things in that way, don’t I?
The day after the gala, we went golfing. A-a-a-a-n-d here’s what happened…
I drank one beer, by the way. That’s all it takes to put me in a fit of giggles.
